Mommy Knows Best is Official!
Hey there everyone. We all know that Mom is the smartest nutrition guru around so I thought that I would give her a forum to call home. Trust me someday you will need the wealth of information that she has stored up in that crazy head of hers!
Mom you are the greatest! Thanks for all your help and all the answers you've given me. Can't imagine having to figure this all out on my own!
Ok first of all, it's not that I didn't want to log on and do this blog---it's because I had faulty information (hee,hee, josh) but I think I have it all cleared it up now.
Thanks for doing this Josh. Goodness knows if I tried to do this all by myself, I would still be struggling with the start button on the computer.
So, i think the first thing i will mention is that all of my children and GRANDCHILDREN should be on fish oil. Numerous studies have been done on the benefits of fish oil--especially the DHA component. Fish oil is broken down into two parts EPA and DHA. It used to be thought that the EPA was the most beneficial of the fish oil but now they are finding that getting more DHA is the best way to go. DHA is good for inflammation and the brain. (depression, mood disorders, cognitive thinking,etc.) Studies find that children taking DHA score higher in school and are able to handle stress better. I know cost is always a factor but if you go online to places like iherb.com or luckyvitamin.com you can get it pretty cheap. Less than half the price than what is sold at the store that i work at. Most places if you order $60 - 100 you get free shipping plus you don't have to pay for any sales tax. Try the Coromega brand for the kids--they have lime, chocolate or orange flavored. For the adults, Carlson DHA 500.
